Gifted and Talented Day brings busy term to a close

What a way to end the term!

Nearly 90 pupils from 23 schools attended the annual Gifted and Talented day at Mark Hal Academy and had an amazing time. The children, who had all been selected by their respective primary schools for being physically more able in PE, took part in several ‘new experiences’ throughout the event. The student’s day began with some fun warm up games before a morning rotation of axe throwing (using plastic equipment!), gym kats gymnastics, bench ball, laser tag, scootering and boxing. Following a short lunch break, the afternoon session saw the children take part in UV dodgeball – this involved immersing the sports hall in complete darkness before using special ultraviolet lights to illuminate the equipment and players with a neon glow. The children absolutely loved playing new games and working with different students, making new friends was highlighted in the feedback forms.

Thanks to all the coaches (Sports Cool and Gym Kats) and organisers (Luke Hammond, Gill Pardoe and David Stacey).
