Henry Moore take Tag Rugby title

Congratulations to the team of Years 5 and 6 from the Henry Moore school who triumphed in this afternoon’s annual Tag Rugby finals. 10 teams, who had qualified from last week’s events, returned to the Harlow Rugby Club to battle it out for the coveted prize and a place in the County Finals. As expected with the top 10 teams out of the 36 who started, the standard was incredible, but so was the level of sportsmanship throughout – a real credit to all the pupils and staff involved.

The afternoon saw two groups of 5 teams play each other before the final ranked games. The results of the group matches were as follows:

Group 1

Henry Moore – 12 points

Nazeing – 9 points

Freshwaters – 7 points

Jerounds – 6 points

Longwood – 5 points

Group 2

Church Langley – 9 points (won on a head-to-head result)

Latton Green – 9 points

Saint Nicholas – 8 points

Milwards – 7 points

Hatfield Heath – 7 points

The final was a tight affair, with Henry Moore edging out Church Langley 5-3; Nazeing beat Latton Green to take 3rd place. We wish Henry Moore all the very best for the forthcoming Essex County Finals in Southend.

Thanks were given to the Harlow Rugby Club for providing such a fantastic venue to inspire the children and providing Nathan and Tony to help referee. Thanks, were also given to David Stacey, Luke Hammond, Steve Hannam and Gill Pardoe for officiating.  Another fantastic event, thoroughly enjoyed by pupils, staff and watching spectators.
