Saint Nicholas and Church Langley take first place in Cricket finals.

Congratulations to the Teams from Saint Nicholas (Best Team) and Church Langley (Girls team) for winning the annual Dynamo cricket events.

On a scorching day, the fields of Harlow Town CC were packed with over 200 pupils from the local primary schools, as two events ran simultaneously. There were 7 teams competing in the Girls Dynamos event and 14 teams competing in the Best Team event.

The standard of play was good, which was a blessing in disguise as the event finished well ahead of schedule, considering the very high temperatures. Staff from the schools, assisted the 30 sports Leaders from Mark Hall Academy, to umpire games and reduce waiting times.

The girls’ event, saw Church Langley triumph over Jerounds in the final; both teams played very well throughout and showed incredible sportsmanship. School Sports Partnership Manager, David Stacey, echoed the fantastic spirit shown by all the girls’ teams throughout the event.

The Best team final was played between Saint Nicholas and Purford Green. Again, this was a tight affair, with both teams bowling very accurately and fielding with great intensity. Saint Nicholas narrowly edged past their opponents to take home the Shohaib Shakoor Trophy – a trophy named in memory of the young cricket enthusiast from Abbotsweld Primary School, who along with his brothers and sisters, tragically lost his life in a house fire back in 2012. Before the event, all the teams and school staff joined in with cheers and applause in Sohaib’s honour.

Best Teams participating were: Church Langley, Jerounds, Katherines, Latton Green, Longwood, Milwards, Nazeing x 2, Pemberley, Potter Street, Purford Green, Saint Nicholas, Tanys Dell and The Downs.

Top three teams: 1st Saint Nicholas, 2nd Purford Green and 3rd – Church Langley.

Girls Dynamos Cricket participating teams: Church Langley, Jerounds, Longwood, Milwards, Nazeing, Purford Green and St Nicholas.

Final result: 1st Church Langley and 2nd Jerounds
