Pupils Shine at KS1 Mini-Olympics

The penultimate event of the year, saw an amazing 28 teams (over 300 pupils) and 48 Sports Leaders take part in the annual Mini-Olympics events at Church Langley Primary School. And, as always, the event was a HUGE success for everyone involved.

The morning started with a flying visit from Chris Vince, MP for Harlow, who came to see for himself the amazing work in primary school sports team achieve. He was really impressed with the set-up and organisation; he even got roped into the warm-up dance before the rotations started.

Both the afternoon and morning sessions followed the same patterns – the teams of children were guided around 7 activities by the amazing Sports Leaders from Church Langley Primary School, whose energy and encouragement helped all the pupils to achieve success and have great fun. With a background of pop music, the children crawled, dodged, jumped, ran and threw their way through the different events.

The feedback from school staff was amazing and the Sports Leaders were delighted to receive such high praise. Schools reported that the children were loving the ‘freeze-pop’ break – a new addition to this year’s event in attempt to keep everyone hydrated.

Well done to the following schools who, at what is a very busy time of year, made that extra effort to ensure the children were able to participate in such a fantastic opportunity:

Henry Moore x 4, Holy Cross x 2, Pemberley, Potter Street x 4, Purford Green x 3, The Downs, St Albans, Saint Nicholas x 2, Hare Street x 2, Longwood, Milwards, St Lukes and Church Langley x 5
