Gifted Pupils Shine during Annual Event

Once again, the pupils of Harlow Primary Schools took up the opportutnity to develop their sporting prowess during the annual Gifted and Talented Day at Mark Hall Sports Centre. Nearly 90 pupils from across the Harlow primary schools were selected by their schools as being more abled during PE sessions and were invited to attend the yearly event.

Organised by David Stacey (Partnership Development Manager and Church Langley) and Luke Hammond (SGO and Purford Green), the pupils arrived in the morning and immediately engaged in a high-octane warm-up led by local sports providers – Sports Cool. Once the warm-up was completed the students were s into 4 groups and rotated around Beach Volleyball, Axe-Throwing, Hip Hop Dance Pop and Laser Tag. The children had a fantastic time, their behaviour was exceptional and they mixed freely with other schools, making new friendships based on a mutual love of sport.

After a very brief lunch, the children completed some feedback surveys on how to improve PE and Sport within their schools and Harlow; their pupil voice continues to be instrumental in evolving our unique offer. Those who weren’t giving feedback, rotated through games of UV Dodgeball, played in a blacked-out Sports Hall under fluorescent lights.

As always, events like this do not just happen per chance. Out thanks to the local providers on the day: Sports Cool and Hip Hop Pop, for providing alternative physical activities. And to David and Luke for continuing to provide amazing opportunities for the pupils in Harlow.
