Indoor Athletics – Frenetic, Fervent, Fast, Full-on Fun!

Both events at MHA today were incredibly busy, with over 400 athletes taking part in our final indoor sportshall athletics events of this academic year.

The morning saw 17 teams compete in the annual Years 3 and 4 Indoor Sportshall Athletics event. With large numbers, we did very well to get through all the track and field events within just over 2 hours – a fabulous achievement. Teams participating were: Hare Street, Church Langley, Tanys Dell, Hatfield Heath, Harlowbury, Henry Moore, Freshwaters, Jerounds, Katherines, Longwood, Little Parndon, Purford Green, Abbotsweld. Cooks Spinney, Holy Cross, Katherines, Nazeing and The Downs

The afternoon event for the 18 teams from Years 1 and 2 was a calmer affair, as numbers of competitors were reduced from 18 per team to 8. Again, the performances were very impressive, with the participants experiencing healthy competition in a controlled environment. Teams participating were: Hare Street, Church Langley, Tanys Dell, Harlowbury, Henry Moore, Hatfield Heath, Holy Cross, Katherines, Freshwaters, Jerounds, Roydon, Longwood, Little Parndon, Purford Green, Potter Street, Milwards, Saint Nicholas and The Downs.

Our thanks were given to the amazing sports leaders from Mark Hall, who once again ensured that all the athletes were supported and encouraged to achieve success. Thanks, were also given to the school staff in attendance, for some it was a real baptism of fire at one of the fastest and most chaotic events of the sporting calendar. A special thank you was mentioned to the PE department and school office of MHA, for rearranging schedules and location to avoid timetable clashes.
