The David Bown Memorial Rugby Event – superb!

Once again, the primary schools of Harlow came together to celebrate the life of former Head Teacher of Saint Nicholas School – David Bown. With 21 teams attending and the Harlow Rugby Club looking majestic in the spring light, the children in Years 3 and 4 rose to the occasion playing some scintillating rugby whilst focusing on showing sportsmanship.

The 45 matches, played by nearly 200 children, concluded with Monica Bown (David’s wife) presenting the trophy named in honour of her husband to Hatfield Heath, for their outstanding displays of compassion and encouragement to all. There are so many things that the primary schools of Harlow get right in terms of sporting excellence, and this morning was a shining example of just that.

Thanks, as ever to the amazing team of school staff, who work tirelessly to enable the children to participate and develop their skills, the Harlow Rugby Club for providing such amazing facilities and an inspirational backdrop to motivate the pupils and to our organisers David Stacey and Luke Hammond, who continue to provide these opportunities week after week. Great job everyone!

Teams participating: Church Langley x 2, Cooks Spinney, Hare Street x 2, Hatfield Heath x 2, Henry Moore x 2, Holy Cross, Jerounds x 2, Latton Green, Milwards, Nazeing x 2, Pemberley, Roydon, Saint Nicholas, Tanys Dell and The Downs.
