Once again, the annual Harlow Primary Schools Gymnastics Key Steps event was a fantastic success. Congratulations were given to all the teams who attended the Great Parndon Community Centre on Friday; as always, the standard was very high in all 3 competitions, largely thanks to the dedication of the school staff who go that extra mile to prepare the children outside of lesson times. With expert judging provided by Peter James and his team of coaches from the Harlow Gymnastic Club, the day ran incredibly smoothly, especially given the increased number of participating teams. All the gymnasts performed amazing well on either their floor routine, body management or on the vault. The parents and family friends watching were enthralled by the tumbles, strength, dexterity and flexibility on show. Scores were incredibly close between several of the teams (in one case two teams were separated by the tightest of margins, 0.1!). Winners of the events were: Church Langley 1 and 2 shared gold in the Years 1 and 2 competition; Hatfield Heath 1 took gold in the Years 3 and 4 competition; and Church Langley 1 were victorious in the Years 5 and 6 competition.
Primary School Sports Partnership Manager, David Stacey, thanked all the participants on behalf of the SGO and Association members for producing such an amazing event.
“Again it was no surprise that the children of Harlow excelled when provided the opportunities to demonstrate their passion and expertise within the sporting arena. We continue to marvel at the performances, the enjoyment and the confidence demonstrated during these events; Harlow primary schools should feel incredibly proud of the difference they continue to make to enrich children’s lives. Supporting our local clubs is vitally important and we are delighted to work alongside some outstanding practitioners within the town. Another great job everyone!”
